sounds like gout, i had it once concurrent with stress-fractures in the other foot. what fun! heres an important tip - NO ICE! gout is caused by crystals that form in the blood, like lots of mini-clots. ice makes that process worse. heat will help blood flow more freely. you can use those little air-activated charcoal hand-warmer packets. check sporting goods stores (campers/hikers/skiers use them). sometimes its cheaper to use the hand ones than the foot ones. see which you can open and expose to air one at a time. you may not want to hear this, as i didnt at the time, but this is a good time to examine your diet, especially alcohol. good luck  "well only get through this if we work together. if we dont, none of us will"

I have gout attacks once in awhile...Extremely painful and usually occurs the furthest points from your heart...Usually steroids will calm the pain..Most of the time you just wake up with the pain...

Gout is a form of arthritis....and feels as you described....the top of toes...not even a sheet can brush against it, without pain. Yes..its crystals. I drink drink drink plenty of water, to help flush and dissolve those crystals, as well as a heating pad on my toes. Go n have it checked. I never had it either till about 3 yrs ago. I can honestly feel empathy towards you regarding your foot. It sounds like you may have rheumatoid arthritis, which is what I have (as well as Ankylosing Spondylitis). The big toe on my right foot has pushed towards the others making them squash together and is very painful. You may be told to wear compression stockings as it could also be something to do with the blood circulation in your feet and that's why you have the rash? Don't worry, it doesn't sound like a blood clot.

Get this diagnosed!!! Gout is treatable. And the medication is available in CANADA for cheap!! I get mine mailed to me from a drug store in BC!! I also have a food no-no list that is beyond reasonable (Virtual Symposium Group) use Virtual Symposium Group
